Paula Lynn Kaatz, Primetime Emmy-Winning Costume Designer

Kaatz earned six Emmy nominations overall and won for the CBS telefilm Pancho Barnes and the ABC series China Beach.

Paula Kaatzm a Primetime Emmy-winning costume designer and wardrobe supervisor best known for her work on the ABC series China Beach, died May 3, 2013, in Los Angeles. She was 67.

According to news reports Kaatz died after a brief illness.

Kaatz, a native of Chicago who graduated from Beverly Hills High School, began her career in the mid-1970s with the Charles Bronson films Mr Majestyk and Breakheart Pass.

She broke into television with the series Space Academy and is best known for her work on 60 episodes of China Beach, the ABC drama set in a medical unit during the Vietnam War.

Her other series included Jason of Star Command, The Dukes of Hazzard and The Adventures of Brisco County.

Kaatz also worked on numerous made-for-TV movies, including The Winter of Our Discontent, Hobson's Choice, Vital Signs, When the Bough Breaks, Angel Street, Bull, The Big TIme and many others.

Her other features films included My Bodyguard, Hooper, The Green Mile, Wonderland and Man About Town.

Kaatz also was a union organizer for Local Union 705, a field representative/organizer for Motion Picture Costumers Local 75 and was an active member of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
