Paul Samaras, Storm Chaser and Extreme Weather Researcher

Paul Samaras died along with his father, Tim Samaras, and fellow extreme-weather researcher Carl Young due to a powerful tornado in Oklahoma.

Tim Samaras, a tornado researcher and camera operator who contributed extreme-weather videos to various TV productions, died along with his father, Tim Samaras, and colleague Carl Young on May 31, 2013, while covering a powerful tornado near El Reno, Oklahoma. He was 28.

According to news reports, the three men were the first casualties among scientific researchers while chasing tornadoes, a citation attributed to the Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma.
