Mort Lindsey, Renowned Musical Director and Composer for Top Stars

Mort Lindsey, a musician and bandleader who collaborated closely with Merv Griffin, Barbra Streisand and Judy Garland, died on May 4, 2012, at his home in Malibu, California. He was 89.

According to news reports, the cause was complications of a broken hip.

Television highlights of Lindsey's career included overseeing the orchestra on The Merv Griffin Show, various productions with Garland and winning a Primetime Emmy for his work as musical director on Streisand's Central Park special in 1969.
