Miniseries/Movies Emmys: Lead, Supporting Actor Categories Will Not Be Combined
An uptick in miniseries and movie productions prompts a Television Academy Board of Governors vote this week to reverse a 2012 decision that consolidated lead and supporting actor categories for these long-form genres.
This year as last year, there will be separate longform categories for Outstanding Lead and Supporting, Actors and Actresses (four total categories). Based on the unanticipated resurgence of television miniseries and movies, the Board voted Thursday night to reverse a 2012 decision, which had consolidated these categories, thereby reinstating the longform lead and supporting categories for this year's 65th Emmy® Awards competition.
