Michael Showers, Treme Co-Star, Found Dead

The body of the Louisiana-born actor, who had been appearing on the acclaimed HBO drama, was found in the Mississippi River.

The body of actor Michael Showers, who had a recurring role on the HBO drama Treme, was found floating in the Mississippi River on August 25, 2011. He was 45.

Treme, created by David Simon, best known for the critically heralded HBO drama The Wire, is an ensemble drama set in New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Showers played police Capt. John Guidry.

A native of Chalmette, Louisiana, Showers began his acting career with a small role in the Oscar-winning film Traffic, followed by such movies as The Courier, Blink, Soul Men, The Pardon, The Collector, I Love You, Philip Morris and the recently released The Tree of Life and Colombiana.

Prior to Treme, his other television appearances included such shows as Sordid Lives: The Series, The Vampire Diaries and Breaking Bad.
