Jon Cryer to Host 21st Television Academy Hall of Fame Gala

North Hollywood, California - The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has tapped Two and a Half Men co-star and Primetime Emmy® winner, Jon Cryer, to host the 21st Hall of Fame Gala. The announcement was made by Television Academy Chairman-CEO Bruce Rosenblum. The ceremony will take place at The Beverly Hills Hotel on Thursday, March 1.

Throughout his career, Cryer has turned in outstanding, eclectic performances in television, film and on stage. Cryer won a Primetime Emmy Award® for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his work as Alan Harper on the hit CBS sitcom Two and a Half Men in 2009. Recently, he was nominated for his first Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series. Cryer also continues to direct episodes of the show throughout the season.

Previously announced presenters were also named to honor the 2012 Television Academy Hall of Fame inductees which include:

• Gail Berman presenting to Mary-Ellis Bunim* & Jonathan Murray
• Garry Marshall presenting to Michael Eisner
• Sofia Vergara presenting to Mario Kreutzberger aka Don Francisco
• Walter Miller presenting to Bill Klages
• Peter Roth presenting to Chuck Lorre
• Doris Singleton presenting to Vivian Vance*
• Barry & Stan Livingston presenting to William Frawley*

*Mary-Ellis Bunim, Vivian Vance and William Frawley will be inducted posthumously.

The 21st Annual Hall of Fame Gala will be presented by Audi®. Phil Gurin (The Singing Bee, Shark Tank and Oh Sit!) will produce the ceremony, which is scripted by Primetime Emmy® Award-winning writer Dave Boone (63rd & 64th Annual Tony Awards).

2012 Inductees Join More than 120 Honorees
in the Television Academy Hall of Fame

This year’s celebrants join more than 120 individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to the television medium and have been inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame since its inception in 1984.

Founded by former Television Academy president John H. Mitchell, the Hall of Fame has honored on-camera legends and pioneering directors, producers, costume designers, writers, animators, executives, reporters and documentarians/explorers.

Past honorees include Lucille Ball, Johnny Carson, Walter Cronkite, Walt Disney, Bob Hope, Mary Tyler Moore, Barbara Walters, Dan Rather, Oprah Winfrey, Jacques-Yves Cousteau, Lorne Michaels, Carl Reiner, Katie Couric, Bob Mackie, Bob Barker, Bea Arthur, Regis Philbin, William Shatner, Bob Stewart and Candice Bergen.
