Jeff Rice, Producer for The Amazing Race and More

Rice and a colleague were reportedly poisoned while working on a project in Uganda.

Jeff Rice, a freelance field producer and "facilitator" for The Amazing Race, died February 21, 2012, in Kampala, Uganda. He was 39.

According to news reports, Rice and Katheryne Fuller, a female colleague, were poisoned. He was killed; she was in a coma at the time of their discovery.

Later reports stated that tainted drugs, not poisoning, were the cause.

In addition to his work for The Amazing Race, Rice worked on the Animal Planet series Whale Wars and the South African version of The Biggest Loser.

Rice, a married father of two, also had a South Africa-based production company with his wife, with whom he collaborated on documentaries.
