Dimitra Arliss, Actress in The Sting, Rich Man, Poor Man, Much More

In The Sting, Arliss played the assassin Loretta Salino; in Rich Man, Poor Man, she was Maria Falconetti.

Dimitra Arliss, best known for the role of Loretta Salino, an assassin who nearly shoots Robert Redford in the Oscar-winning film The Sting, died January 26, 2012, in Woodland Hills, California. She was 79.

According to news reports, the cause was complications from a stroke.

Born October 23, 1932, in Lorain, Ohio, Arliss worked widely in television credits. Her credits included a prominent role in the acclaimed 1976 miniseries Rich Man, Poor Man, as well as episodes of Dallas, Quincy, Kojak and General Hospital.

She also lent her voice to the Armor Computer voice in a 1994 Iron Man episode "The Origin of Iron Man."

She is survived by her sister.
