Dick Beals, voice talent for radio and television for years, has passed away on May 29, 2012, at the age of 85. Beals was most famously known for the iconic character Gumby on the original television show.

In addition to Gumby, Beals also voiced Speedy in popular Alka-Seltzer commercials for television. He was the voice of thousands of commercials, including spots for Oscar Mayer and Campbell's Soup.

Other television credits included such animated series as The Flintstones, The Biskitts, The Jetsons, Garfield and Friends, The Addams Family and Duck Dodgers.

Part of his appeal was his voice that made him sound like a child. A glandular condition kept his voice sounding the same since elementary school.
