Biff Elliot, Film and TV Actor Known for Playing Mike Hammer

In addition to his feature film roles, Elliot appeared in numerous television series.

Biff Elliot, an actor who was the first to star as starred Mike Hammer, the rigged detective created by author Mickey Spillane, died August 15, 2012, in Studio City, Calif. He was 89.

according to news reports, Elliot died natural causes on Aug. 15.

Elliot originated the role of Mike Hammer in the 1953 feature film adaptation of Spillane's novel I, the Jury,

His other film credits included House of Bamboo, The True Story of Jesse James, PT 109, Pork Chop Hill and Save the Tiger.

He also appeared in dozens pt television series, including Lights Out, Kraft Theatre, The Philco-Goodyear Television Playhouse, Lux Video Theatre, Perry Mason, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, 77 Sunset Strip, The Dick Van Dyke Show, Mission: Impossible, Bonanza, Star Trek Falcon Crest, Cannon and CHiPS.
