Michelle Lyn Banta presented with the first Fred Rogers Memorial Scholarship

MICHELLE LYN BANTA TO RECEIVE THE INAUGURAL
ACADEMY OF TELEVISION ARTS & SCIENCES FOUNDATION
FRED ROGERS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
 

Grad Student from UCLA School of Film, Theatre and
Television to Receive $10,000

WHAT:  The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and its Foundation along with Ernst & Young LLP will jointly present Michelle Lyn Banta, a graduate student at UCLA School of Film, Theatre and Television, with the first Fred Rogers Memorial Scholarship.  The presentation will be made during an ice cream social reception hosted by the Television Academy's Children's Programming Peer Group and Governors Nancy Steingard and Vicki Ariyasu.
 
Banta, who is currently in her thesis phase at the UCLA School of Film, Theatre and Television, will receive $10,000 to support her aspiring career in children's media and furthering the values and principles of Rogers' work. In addition to the monetary award, she will be assigned a mentor from the Television Academy's Children's Programming Group who will work with her during the academic year.  

WHO: 
The Scholarship will be presented to Michelle Lyn Banta by Joanne Rogers (Mrs. Fred Rogers), David Newell ("Mr. McFeeley: from "Mister Rogers Neighborhood") and Andy Sale from Ernst & Young.
