Karla Loor Kitchel Appointed Director of Strategic Partnerships and Marketing

Will lead marketing, funding development and oversee fundraising events

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (August 14, 2013) — The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Foundation announced today the appointment of Karla Loor Kitchel as the Director of Strategic Partnerships and Marketing. In this new position, Kitchel will lead the marketing and funding development team for the Foundation, where she will be responsible for building long-term partnerships and philanthropic investments, as well as implementing new marketing initiatives. She will also oversee the Foundation's signature fundraising events, including the College Television Awards Gala and Celebrity Golf Tournament.

"Karla joins us at a critical time, as television has become increasingly portable and has created even more opportunity for young entrepreneurs," said Norma Provencio Pichardo, Executive Director of the Foundation. "Her fundraising and marketing expertise will help expand upon our existing partnerships and strategize funding opportunities and initiatives for new, like-minded partners."

Kitchel returns to the entertainment industry after many years spent focusing on institutional advancement in the educational space, bringing with her a depth of experience in donor relations, fundraising development and strategic communications. Previously, Kitchel was the Director of Development at Rolling Hills Preparatory School, where she was responsible for all aspects of a comprehensive fundraising and communications program. Prior to that, Kitchel held the role of Associate Director of Donor Relations and Prospect Management at Marlborough School.

Kitchel began her career in the entertainment space at the Emma L. Bowen Foundation where she worked in program management and recruitment. She has a bachelor's degree from Duke University and a master's degree from the University of California, Los Angeles.
