Social Buzz: Top TV Series - Week of November 30-December 6, 2014

Putting the social spotlight on Nowhere Boys, Girlfriend’s Guide to Divorce, America’s Next Top Model, Castle, and The Walking Dead.

Eyes wide. Palms sweaty. Phone unlocked and ready to express the slightest excitement or outrage on Twitter. We all enjoy shows that keep us tethered our TVs with a little drama and a lot of action. This week we’re putting the social spotlight on Nowhere Boys, Girlfriend’s Guide to Divorce, America’s Next Top Model, Castle, and The Walking Dead, which brought us divorces, zombies, and fashion runways this week. We wanted to know:

Did the Nowhere Boys fans’ fascination with the adventures of Felix, Andy, Sam, and Jake translate to fan chatter on the popular social networks?
Did Abby McCarthy’s new single status at 40 in the Girlfriend’s Guide to Divorce grip its premiere audience online?
How did Facebook fashionistas react to the first ever male winner in America’s Next Top Model history?
Did the complicated and intense relationship between Richard and Kate on Castle keep fans glued to second screens as much as TV screens? 
Were people still rooting for Rick and fellow zombie-killers in the non-stop fight for survival on The Walking Dead mid-season finale?

The Social Totals

The Walking Dead killed off the rest of the competition, drastically leading in total number engagements on Facebook and Twitter. This is likely due to the the fact that last week’s episode was the last show “fix” for fanatics this season.

Active Audiences

A large engagement market share doesn’t necessarily mean that a show’s audience is also highly reactive to its content. And as a result, when we look at engagements per 1K users we see a very different story unfold. Bravo’s Girlfriend’s Guide to Divorce had the best relationship with fans on social this week with 674.3 Facebook engagements per 1K fans and 103.1 Twitter engagements per 1K followers.
