Cable Networks Again Dominate Golden Globes

HBO, Showtime, FX, and Netflix garner top nominations, and Amazon moves into contention with Transparent.

Cable networks again led the television nominations for the 72nd Golden Globes, announced this morning. HBO's True Detective earned four nominations, and FX's Fargo came in with five.

New media also continued to make gains, with Amazon's Transparent earning a nomination as Best Comedy Program and a Best Actor nod for its leading man, Jeffrey Tambor.

Netflix's House of Cards and Orange Is the New Black continued their popularity, with nominations for House of Cards as Best TV Drama, as well as Best Actor and Actress for Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright.  Orange Is the New Black got the nod as Best TV Comedy or Musical, and acting honors for Taylor Schilling and Uzo Aduba.

The Golden Globes will be handed out January 11, in a show hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.
