VA Students Get a Lesson in GoT

The Foundation's education team welcomed Janet Graham Borba, SVP of HBO West Coast Production, for a discussion with students visiting from the University of Virginia.

Visiting professional Janet Graham Borba of HBO spoke to aspiring storytellers from UVA in a robust presentation at the Saban Media Center on January 11, 2018.

Using examples from Game of Thrones and other HBO series, students learned about the full range of production from green light to wrap, including budgeting, scheduling, costumes, special effects, prosthetics, locations, art direction, make up and more.

Graham Borba advised the students: "This industry is never repetitive, always interesting, and playful. Apprentice yourself in something that interests you — and start before you're ready!"
