Artists & Activism – An NAACP Image Awards Event

The Diversity Committee, Production Executives peers and NAACP brought CSI: New York‘s Hill Harper, Maxine Waters and more to this symposium.

Top faces from behind television's scenes and in front of the cameras joined distinguished government, business and academic community members for this year's NAACP Symposium Artists & Activism, presented by the Diversity Committee in February.



Respected journalist Ed Gordon moderated the event, which was held at Goldenson Theatre on the Television Academy Plaza.



Among panel particpants were: Vic Bulluck,Executive Director, NAACP Hollywood Bureau; Ralph J. Bunche, Center for African American Studies, UCLA; actor-author Hill Harper, CSI: New York; Dr. Darnell Hunt, Director; Debra L. Lee, Chairman & CEO, Black Entertainment Television (BET); Judge Greg Mathis, Judge Mathis; Shelby Stone, SVP of Production & Development, Foxx/King Entertainment; Congresswoman Maxine Waters, 35th District of California.


Artists & Actvism is a presentation of the Television Academy Diversity Committee, along with the Production Executives Peer Group. Candace Bond-McKeever, Susan Nessanbaum-Goldberg and Marcelino Ford-Livene co-chair the Diversity Committee. Rocci Chatfield and Pete Hammond are Activities Committee co-chairs. Robert O’Donnell is the director of activities for the Television Academy.
