ACADEMY OF TELEVISION ARTS & SCIENCES PRESENTS THE 58TH ANNUAL LOS ANGELES AREA EMMY® AWARDS HONORING THE BEST IN LOCAL TELEVISION ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 12, 2006
MSNBC's Keith Olbermann to Host; Show to Air as a One-Hour Special on KTLA, August 26th from 9:00 – 10:00 p.m. Los Angeles Television Pioneer Stan Freberg to Receive Governors Award
North Hollywood, CA, July 31, 2006 – The 58th Annual Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards honoring excellence in locally produced entertainment, news, public affairs, sports and children's programming, will take place on Saturday, August 12 at the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre at 5 p.m. The live-to-tape show will air as a one-hour special on KTLA on August 26, from 9:00-10:00 p.m.
“The LA Area Emmy Awards have a tradition of recognizing the best in Southern California programming and this year is no exception as all the nominees continually strive for excellence in the Los Angeles television market,” said Dick Askin, Chairman and CEO of the Television Academy. “They have all told the many stories of our diverse community with intelligence, creativity and integrity. We are very proud of the work that has been nominated."
This year's show will be hosted by television personality Keith Olbermann, who is the host of MSNBC's "Countdown with Keith Olbermann," the hour-long nightly newscast in which he counts down the top news stories of the day. Olbermann is familiar with the Los Angeles television community having worked at KTLA and KCBS covering sports.
A highlight of the ceremony will be the presentation of the Governors Award to television pioneer and legendary satirist Stan Freberg. The prestigious award recognizes and honors a lifetime of broadcasting achievement.
Icon Entertainment, headed by Jeff Androsky and Carol Sherman, will again produce the show with Suzan Jorgensen-Torgerson as Executive Producer. This year's ceremony will be webcast from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on August 12. The link is http://www.emmys.com/awards/la-area-emmy-awards.
