About The Event

Watch the video replay of the panel discussion above.

Showrunners: The Art Of Running A TV Show is the first feature-length documentary film about the fascinating world of U.S. television showrunners. You'll meet the people who create, write and oversee every element of production on one of the United States' biggest exports – television drama and comedy series.

The film features interviews with 22 different showrunners including J.J. Abrams, Joss Whedon, Ronald D. Moore, Bill Prady, Janet Tamaro, Jonathan Nolan and many more, all of whom offer insight into the challenges they face when producing your favorite TV series, on time and on budget!

Equally fascinating is the story of how filmmaker Des Doyle - an industry pro from Ireland who happens to love American television - financed this passion project through the Irish Film Board/Bord Scannán na hÉireann and Kickstarter.

Panelists:

  • Damon Lindelof - Lost, The Leftovers
  • Hart Hanson - Bones
  • Janet Tamaro - Rizzoli & Isles
  • Mike Royce - Men of A Certain Age, Enlisted
  • Steven S. DeKnight - Spartacus, Daredevil
  • Matthew Carnahan - House of Lies, Dirt
