Sir Ian McKellan is one of the most accomplished and revered actors of our time, with multiple Primetime Emmy®, Oscar®, Golden Globe and Tony® nominations and awards to his credit. Currently nominated for his work on the AMC’s The Prisoner, McKellan began his career on stage in such plays as Dr. Faustus, Romeo and Juliet and Macbeth. A new generation of fans has come to know McKellen as “Eric Lehnsherr/Magneto” in X-Men and X-Men 2, and in Lord of The Rings trilogy as “Gandalf.” Queen Elizabeth knighted the actor in 1990 for his contribution to the arts.
