Stephen Furst was an actor and director best known for playing Kent “Flounder” Dorfman in the 1978 classic comedy Animal House and its spin-off television series, Delta House.

Furst appeared frequently on television, including recurring roles on St. Elsewhere — as Dr. Elliot Axelrod — and on the sci-fi series Babylon 5 — as Centauri diplomatic attaché Vir Cotto.

Additionally, he had roles on the series Newhart, CHiPs, The Jeffersons, MacGyver, Night Court, Melrose Place, Chicago Hope, Diagnosis Murder and Scrubs, and lent his voice to the animated series Bobby’s World, Timon & Pumbaa and Buzz Lightyear of Star Command.

Furst also helmed several episodes of Babylon 5 and the series Crusade.

He died June 16, 2017, in Moorpark, California. He was 62.
