Sheila MacRae was a singer and actress best known for playing Alice Kramden in the 1960s version of The Honeymooners.

Born in London, she left England with her parents and relocated to Long Island in 1939, as the threat of war became imminent

In 1941 she married Gordon MacRae, the popular actor and singer known for such movie musicals as Carousel and Oklahoma! They performed together for many years in nightclubs, on television and in concerts, as well as one their own. They divorced in 1967.

In 1941 she married Gordon MacRae, the popular actor and singer known for such movie musicals as Carousel and Oklahoma! They performed together for many years in nightclubs, on television and in concerts, as well as one their own. They divorced in 1967.

She began appearing in films and television in the early 1950s, and from 1966 to 1970, she played the role of Alice, the wife of Ralph Kramden, the Brooklyn bus driver played by Jackie Gleason, in “Honeymooners” sketches on The Jackie Gleason Show. The role was first played by Audrey Meadows on The Honeymooners in the 1950s.

Her other television credits included Search for Tomorrow, I Love Lucy, The Red Skelton Hour, General Hospital, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., The Love Boat, Parenthood and Murder, She Wrote.

In 1971 she had her own short-lived series, The Sheila MacRae Show.

MacRae died March 6, 2014, in Englewood, New Jersey. She was 92.
