Sam Sarpong was a British-born actor and model best known for co-hosting MTV’s Yo Momma for three seasons beginning in 2006. The series featured Wilmer Valderrama traveling the country in search of America’s best trash-talkers. He also hosted the BET pre-awards show All Access.

Sarpong also worked on the television shows My So-Called Life, Family Matters, Dangerous Minds, Home Improvement, Mr. Show with Bob and David, Boston Public, The District, NCIS, ER, Veronica Mars, Everybody Hates Chris, Cold Case, 24, Bones and American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson. Additionally, he worked on the television movies Carmen: A Hip Hopera, Save the Last Dance, Sucker Free City and Studio City.

His film roles included parts in Love Don’t Cost a Thing, Sunset Park, Masked and Anonymous and Keeping Up with the Steins.

He began his career as a model, working for brands including Louis Vuitton, Versace, Donna Karan, Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana. He was also the face of Tommy Hilfiger for more than six seasons.

Sarpong died from what was reported as an apparent suicide on October 26, 2015, in Pasadena, California. He was 40.
