Rhonda Glenn was the first female sports newscaster to work fulltime for a national network. She joined ESPN in 1981, two years after its launch, sitting behind the SportsCenter desk until 1983.

Beginning her career in television in 1969, Glenn got her start as a sports reporter in Norfolk, Virginia. She had worked as a women’s golf analyst for ABC Sports for three years before her brief but important tenure at ESPN, eventually landing back at ABC Sports covering women’s golf for a total of 16 years.

For 17 years Glenn worked in communications for the United States Golf Association (USGA). She herself competed in 11 USGA championships, including twice at the U.S. Women's Open and five times in the U.S. Women’s Amateur. She would continue to be a tireless promoter of women’s golf, and would ultimately become a USGA historian.
