In addition to his television and film work, Jason performed onstage in shows including A View from the Bridge, So Long, 174th Street and Fiddler on the Roof. Most recently, he appeared in the Tony Award-winning production of Grand Hotel the Musical, directed and choreographed by Tommy Tune. The show ran from 1989-92 on Broadway.
A Philadelphia native, Mitchell served in the Army during WWII before earning his bachelor’s degree from Temple University under the GI Bill. He began his onstage career in Pennsylvania before relocating to New York City.
Jason died on March 11, 2014, in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. He was 92.
