Misty Upham was an actress who appeared in several movies and TV series during a brief but prolific career.
A member of the Blackfoot Tribe, Upham was born in Kalispell, Montana, in 1982, and grew up near Seattle, Washington. At 13 she joined Red Eagle Soaring, a community theater group, and before long she was performing throughout the Pacific Northwest, as well as writing and directing.

She continued to perform on stage throughout high school and made her first film, Skins, in 2002. She went on to appear in several other movies, including Frozen River, for which she was named best supporting actress at the American Indian Film Festival. Additional credits included Expiration Date, Django Unchained, August: Osage County and Cake.
In addition, she had roles in various telefilms and series, including Skinwalkers, Auf Wiedersehen, Pet, DreamKeeper, Edge of America and Big Love.
Upham died in October of 2014 in Auburn, Washington. She was 32.
