Miguel Ferrer was an actor best known for the film RoboCop and such television series as Twin Peaks, Crossing Jordan and NCIS: Los Angeles.

The son of Oscar-winning actor Jose Ferrer and singer-actress Rosemary Clooney, Ferrer was a drummer for many years before breaking into acting himself.

He started out in television, with roles on series that included Magnum P.I., CHiPS and Cagney & Lacey.

He started out in television, with roles on series that included Magnum P.I., CHiPS and Cagney & Lacey.

In the years that followed he appeared in many, many others, including Hill Street Blues, T.J. Hooker, Miami Vice, Shannon's Deal, Will & Grace, Desperate Housewives and Psych.

Ferrer's most memorable regular series roles were F.B.I. forensics expert Albert Rosenfield on Twin Peaks, medical examiner Dr. Garret Macy on Crossing Jordan and Owen Granger, the assistant director of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, on NCIS: Los Angeles.

His first major film role was that of unhinged executive Bob Morton in the 1987 release RoboCop. His other movies included Revenge, Point of No Return, Hot Shots! Part Deux, TrafficThe Manchurian Candidate and Iron Man 3.

Ferrer died on January 19, 2017. He was 61.
