John Colenback

John Colenback was an actor best known for his role as Dr. Dan Stewart on CBS soap opera As the World Turns.

Colenback appeared as the debonair doctor on the long-running serial from 1966-73, at the end of which a national daytime magazine named him best actor. He appeared on the series again from 1976-79.

From 1960-61 he starred in the NBC soap opera From These Roots as character Jimmy Hull. The drama followed a fictional New England community and their romantic exploits. He also appeared in the television series Hart to Hart, The Misadventures of Sheriff Lobo, Falcon Crest, Capitol and Berrenger’s. In 1976 he appeared in the special Strangers in the Homeland and in 1982 he had a small role in the television movie An Innocent Love, about a gifted teenager who is accepted into college and falls in love with an older student.

Colenback also acted on Broadway and Off Broadway, debuting in 1961 as the Attendant to Signor Chapuys in the original Broadway production of A Man for All Seasons. He also appeared in After the Rain, Twelfth Night, The Importance of Being Earnest, As You Like It, A Scent of Flowers and Four Friends.

Additionally, at the 1964 New York World’s Fair he served as a newscaster, spokesman and actor for the RCA Color Central Exposition.

Colenback died May 12, 2015, in West Hollywood, California. He was 79.
