John Agoglia

John Agoglia was a network executive who was the head of business affairs at NBC during the so-called “Must-See TV” era of the 1980s and early ’90s. In addition, he served as president of NBC Enterprises.

Known as a tough negotiator, Agoglia was a key figure in many high-profile deals, including the signing of Jay Leno to host The Tonight Show. He also negotiated with representatives for the casts of Seinfeld and Cheers.

Agoglia began his career with Barclays Bank and spent 16 years at CBS before joining NBC in 1980. After leaving NBC in 1997, he formed a media consulting firm and served on various corporate and municipal boards.

He died March 14, 2014. He was 76.
