Joe Finnigan

Joe FInnigan was a journalist who wrote the "TV Teletype" column for TV Guide for nearly two decades.

A Bay Area native, Finnigan got his start as a copy boy for the San Francisco Examiner. He eventually relocated to Los Angeles, where he covered the entertainment beat for United Press International before moving to TV Guide in 1965. He also wrote for The Daily Racing FormTelevision-Radio Age and Emmy magazine.

In addition to his journalism, he worked as a writer and pre-interviewer for The Merv Griffin Show, and was occasionally cast as an extra in films and television series. His TV credits included McHale’s Navy, Hazel, Run for Your Life and Ironside.

Finnigan died January 22, 2014, in Sun Valley, California. He was 88.
