Jess Marlow was a broadcast journalist and anchor who was a fixture of Los Angeles news for more than 30 years. During the course of his distinguished career, he worked at KNBC as well as KNXT, the station that is now KCBS.

Born in Salem, Illinois, Marlow worked for a decade as a railroad telegrapher before breaking into television in 1958 with a job in Rock Island, Illinois.

He eventually relocated to California, where he was hired as a reporter at KNBC in 1966. He became an anchor in 1968 and remained at KNBC until 1980, when he left for a position at KNXT. In 1986, he returned to KNBC, where he worked until his retirement in 1997.

He received numerous honors for his work, including a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, several Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards and the Television Academy's Los Angele Area Governors Award.

Marlow died August 4, 2014, near Denver, Colorado. He was 84.
