Janet Waldo

Janet Waldo was an actress best known for her work as a voice-over performer. Her numerous animated series included the futuristic comedy The Jetsons, in which she provided the voice of Judy, the teenage daughter of George and Jane Jetson.

Waldo studied at the University of Washington before embarking on an acting career. She had small roles in several films and enjoyed success in the title role of the radio series Meet Corliss Archer  before breaking into television in the early 1950s. Her early TV credits included I Love Lucy, The Phil Silvers Show and The Andy Griffith Show.

In addition to her on-camera roles, Waldo drew upon her radio experience to land regular work as a voice-over performer in the animation genre, beginning with The Jetsons in 1962. In the decades that folowed, she lent her youthful-sounding voice to may other cartoons, including The Flintstones, The Atom Ant Show, Wacky Races, The Perils of Penelope PitstopJosie and the Pussycats, Inch High, Private Eye, King of the Hill and more.

Waldo died on June 12, 2016, in Encino, California. She was 96.
