Hal Douglas

Hal Douglas was a prolific voice-over artist who performed thousands of voice-overs for movies, television shows, commercials and stage plays over the course of a career that spanned more than 60 years.

His voice was heard on television commercials for Broadway shows and brands such as Mercedes-Benz and Chevrolet, and promos for the cable networks A&E and History Channel. He also lent his baritone to trailers for a long list of major studio movies, including Philadelphia, Forrest Gump, Meet the Parents, Chocolat and Men in Black.

Born in Stamford, Connecticut, he served in the Navy during World War II and went on to study drama at the University of Miami. He then became a television and radio announcer before going to work as a producer at an advertising agency for several years. From there, he returned to the microphone and became one of the busiest and most reliable narrators in the business.

Douglas died March 7, 2014, in Lovettsville, Virginia. He was 89.
