British actress Geraldine McEwan appeared in television shows, plays and films. She is best known for playing Miss Marple, a spinster consultant detective, in Agatha Christie’s Marple.

McEwan made her stage debut at the age of 14, and moved into starring roles just a few years later. During her career she shared the stage with Laurence Olivier, Albert Finney and other top British stars. She won a BAFTA award for best actress in 1991 for her performance in Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit, a television miniseries.
