Eugene Cernan was an astronaut who, at the time of his passing, was the last human to walk on the moon. Cernan, who was the commander of the Apollo 17 lunar-landing, went to the moon twice, last walking on the moon’s surface in December of 1972.

Cernan became a NASA astronaut in 1963 and was the second American to drift weightless around the world on a tether; at 32, he was the youngest American to go into space.

He went on to appear on a variety of talk shows and TV specials, including Apollo 17: Splashdown, The Dean Martin Show, Spaceflight, CBS This Morning, 60 Minutes, Hannity, When We Left Earth: The NASA Missions, America’s Newsroom, Huckabee, Lou Dobbs Tonight and Larry King Now.
