David Margulies was an actor best known for his role as New York City Mayor Lenny Clotch (a reference to 1980s NYC Mayor Ed Koch) in the Ghostbusters films. Margulies appeared in the 1984 original as well as the 1989 sequel, both of which starred Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Sigourney Weaver.

Margulies also appeared in the feature films The Front, starring Woody Allen; All That Jazz, with Jessica Lange; Hide in Plain Sight, with James Caan; Dressed to Kill, with Michael Caine and Angie Dickinson; Daniel, starring Timothy Hutton; 9 ½ Weeks, starring Mickey Rourke and Kim Basinger; Sidney Lumet’s Running on Empty; Woody Allen’s Celebrity; Fading Gigolo, starring John Turturro, Allen and Sharon Stone; and A Most Violent Year, with Oscar Isaac, Jessica Chastain and David Oyelowo.

Additionally, Margulies appeared on television, including roles on the series Kojak, The Equalizer, The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd, Northern Exposure, Chicago Hope, NYPD Blue, New York Undercover, 100 Centre Street, Touched by an Angel, Law & Order, Law & Order: SVU, Canterbury’s Law, The Good Wife, Blue Bloods and Happyish. He also had a recurring role as Neil Mink, Tony Soprano’s lawyer, on eight episodes of HBO’s The Sopranos.

He also had roles in more than a dozen Broadway plays, including a 1973 revival of Eugene O'Neill’s The Iceman Cometh, as well as Comedians, Brighton Beach Memoirs, Conversations With My Father and Angels in America.

Margulies died January 11, 2016, in New York City. He was 78.
