Chris Cornell was a singer and musician best known for fronting the rock bands Soundgarden and Audioslave. The performer, who had a powerful voice and a four octave range, helped to further the 1990s grunge movement.

Cornell's music — whether through his bands or his solo efforts — was used extensively on television and in films, including the movies Say Anything, Wayne’s World, The Basketball Diaries, Collateral, Casino Royale, Machine Gun Preacher, The Avengers, Man of Steel and 13 Hours.

His music was also used on the series Roswell, Scrubs, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, One Tree Hill, Life on Mars, Sons of Anarchy, Supernatural, Bones and Vinyl.

Additionally, Cornell performed on the shows Last Call with Carson Daly, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Show with David Letterman, Ellen, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Conan and Saturday Night Live.

Cornell died May 17, 2017, in Detroit, Michigan. He was 52.
