Brian G. Hutton began his career as an actor with numerous TV credits, and went on to direct several feature films, including two with Clint Eastwood.
Born in New York City, he studied at the Actors Studio and moved to Los Angeles at the encouragement of renowned movie producer Hal B. Wallis
He began appearing on television in the 1950s with epsidoes of such series as Robert Montgomery Presents, Gunsmoke, Climax! and Perry Mason. Other acting credits in the years that followed included Have Gun—WIll Travel, The Rifleman, Alfred Hitchcock Presents and Laramie.

He also had roles in such movies as Fear Strikes Out, Gunfight at the O.K. Corral, King Creole and The Interns.
Hutton broke into directing with the 1965 release Wild Seed, as part of Universal Studios' New Horizons program, which provided opportunities for actors with filmmaking aspirations. He went on to direct several other features, including Where Eagles Dare and Kelly's Heroes with Eastwood, as well as X, Y and Zee, Night Watch, The First Deadly Sin and High Road to China.
In the 1980s he left the entertainment industry and worked in real estate.
Hutton died August 19, 2014, in Los Angeles. He was 79.
