Barbara Cook was a Broadway actress and singer who later became a cabaret mainstay. She was best known for her soprano voice and incredible range, which she displayed in the original 1957 production of The Music Man, winning her a Tony.

Cook also performed in Candide, Carousel, She Loves Me, Show Boat and The King and I.

Additionally, she had roles on the series Studio One in Hollywood, Armstrong Circle Theatre, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Play of the Week and The United States Steel Hour, as well as the telefilms Babes in Toyland and Hansel and Gretel.
