Andre Mika

Andre Mika was a producer and production manager best known for his work on the largest media event in history, Live Earth, which aimed to increase environmental awareness and reduce global warming worldwide. The 24-hour live music event won the first Emmy Award for content delivered by the internet.

Touted as the largest one-day music event, the concert featured more than 150 musical acts in eleven locations around the world, including performances by Madonna, Kanye West, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kelly Clarkson, Bon Jovi, John Mayer, Sheryl Crow and the Black Eyed Peas.

Mika's other work in television included producing CBS’s The Andy Griffith Show Reunion: Back to Mayberry, featuring interviews with Andy Griffith, Ron Howard and Don Knotts. The following year he produced segments for The Funniest Families of Television Comedy: A Museum of Television & Radio Special featuring interviews with Tim Allen, Ray Romano, Bernie Mac, Jim Belushi and Rob Reiner, among others. He also executive produced the NHL Face-Off Rocks Concert featuring Def Leppard kicking off the 2008-2009 NHL Season as well as the 2009 NHL Awards. Mika also won an Emmy for his work as an associate director for the 2004 Athens Summer Olympics, televised on NBC. In 2009, Sports Business Journal named him one of the Top 15 Most Influential Digital Media Executives in Sports.

Additionally, he worked as head of international productions at DreamWorks, where he was responsible for dubbing the animated film The Prince of Egypt into 26 languages in 30 countries.

Mika showed interest in the entertainment industry early on, and was the founder and manager of his high school’s radio station. He was also an accomplished singer and attended the Kansas City Conservatory of Music.

Mika died June 25, 2015, in Chicago, Illinois. He was 49.
