Requirements for membership in the Picture Editors Peer Group
Please note that requirements for credits, number of programs, number of hours or days, or percentages of time spent (as outlined below) are requirements which must be met within the four (4) years preceding one's application for membership; also, such requirements apply in each instance to the production and/or distribution of nationally exhibited audio visual works.
Screen Credit as Picture Editor on at least eight (8) hours of nationally-exhibited content in the previous four (4) years.
In addition, applicant must have worked as a Picture Editor for at least three (3) out of the previous four (4) years, with at least one (1) screen credit per year, before applying for membership.
Associate Producers/Post Supervisors and Colorists are eligible screen credits. They must have worked a minimum of four (4) years on nationally-exhibited content; and worked full time for twenty-four (24) of the last thirty-six (36) months; and provide one of the following for verification: resume, website, work experience, or other notable accomplishments.
Eligible for program ballot only and may not serve on the picture editors peer group executive committee.
Body of Work Clause - Individuals who have a significant and pervasive body of work in picture editing, but who do not meet the requirements stated above, may nevertheless apply for a Body of Work status, to be solely determined and granted by the Editor's Peer Group Executive Committee. The individual would be treated as an Active Member though ineligible to run for peer group governor.
Picture Editors with less than eight (8) hours of screen credit, VFX editors and Assistant Editors with at least twelve (12) months professional experience
Editing Teachers with at least twelve (12) months professional experience in Picture Editing. Post Production Facilities Personnel with at least twelve (12) months professional experience will be considered on an individual basis.
