Maury McIntyre

President and Chief Executive Officer

Maury McIntyre is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Television Academy, the only major organization devoted to the television entertainment industry, with nearly 20,000 members from across all disciplines, including performers, directors, producers, art directors and various other artisans, technicians and executives. The Television Academy promotes creativity, diversity, innovation and excellence in television through its many programs, including the Emmy Awards.

During Maury's tenure as its President, the Academy has seen unprecedented growth in both membership and revenue. He successfully oversaw the fundraising, design and construction for the state-of-the-art screening complex, the Television Academy's Saban Media Center. Under his leadership, all aspects of the Emmy competition moved completely digital, with a new online voting portal and a streaming platform for screening of all competitive Emmy programming. The Academy was the first organization to fully eliminate DVD screeners. The Academy welcomed two new peer groups – Choreography and Science & Technology – and opened its doors to Music Supervisors and Location Managers for the first time. In addition, the organization underwent a complete rewrite of its Bylaws and Policies & Procedures, along with a re-organization of its staff, to ensure the Academy was evolving with the industry.

In his prior role as Vice President of Digital, Maury elevated the Television Academy's digital presence with an award-winning new website and a major content distribution partnership with Yahoo. His focus on social media tripled the Academy's reach in that area, and his expansion of the Television Academy's digital content around the Emmys helped secure and augment partnerships with companies like Audi, Samsung and Target.

Prior to the Television Academy, Maury led numerous digital initiatives at Disney Interactive. Joining Disney in 2005 as the Director of Marketing, Maury led acquisition and retention marketing for Disney Online subscription game products, exponentially growing operating income by 211 percent. In 2008, he was appointed to Director of Synergy & Franchise Development, leading the global online strategy for franchises like Mickey Mouse, Princess, Fairies and Cars, delivering double-digit growth year after year. Elevated to VP of the department in 2011, he delivered a 53% increase in traffic and 42% increase in engagement in franchise and movie sites in FY11.

In 2012, Maury was appointed to VP of Programming and Editorial, overseeing content and delivery for over 60 sites for Disney Interactive, where he delivered an unprecedented increase in online traffic and engagement across numerous sites on the Disney.com and Disney on YouTube network. Under his direction, the company won numerous Webby People's Voice Awards in 2011 and 2012 for excellence in website design, content, and usability, and realized significant growth in online traffic and engagement across numerous sites.
