Bernard Pomerance
Bernard Pomerance was a playwright best known for his 1979 Tony Award-winning play The Elephant Man, which drew universal praise and ran for 916 performances.
In 1982, the play was adapted into a telefilm, starring Kevin Conway and Glenn Close. The production garnered a Golden Globe nomination and four Emmy nominations, winning for Penny Fuller’s supporting actress performance.
His other plays include Melons, starring Ben Kingsley; Quantrill in Lawrence; and High in Vietnam, Hot Damn.
Pomerance died August 26, 2017, in Galisteo, New Mexico. He was 76.
