Jan Petersen, Longtime CBS News Correspondent

Petersen was married to a fellow CBS News correspondent, Barry Peterson, who wrote a book about her battle with early-onset Alzheimer's disease.

Jan Petersen, a longtime foreign correspondent for CBS News on both television and radio, died May 11, 2013.

According to news reports, the cause was early-onset Alzheimer's disease.

Petersen, who also worked at CNN and ABC, was married to another CBS News correspondent, Barry Petersen.

She was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's eight years ago. The challenges of her illness were addressed in her husband's 2010 book, Jan's Story, and in a news story on the CBS program Sunday Morning.
