Doris Singleton, I Love Lucy Co-Star

Singleton played Caroline Appleby, neighbor of Lucy and Ricky Ricardo.

Doris SIngleton, an actress best known for playing Caroline Appleby, neighbor on the iconic television comedy I Love Lucy, died June 26, 2012, in Los Angeles. She was 92.

According to news reports, the cause was cancer.

Prior to I Love Lucy, Singleton had appeared on The Adventures of Superman, and while doing Lucy, she had roles on The Loretta Young Show, The Bob Cummings Show, The Great Gildersleeve, The Bob Hope Show and Alfred Hitchcock Presents.

Following her 1953-57 run on I Love Lucy, Singleton appeared on dozens of series, including Richard Diamond, Private Detective, Perry Mason, The Thin Man, Man with a Camera, The Ann Sothern Show, Gunsmoke, Make Room for Daddy, The Red Skelton Hour, Hazel, Twilight Zone, Bob Hope Presents the Chrysler Theatre, The F.B.I., The Lucy Show, Gomer Pyle: USMC, The Fugitive, The Dick Van Dyke Show, The Munsters, Family Affair, Hogan's Heroes, My Three Sons, All in the Family, Marcus Welby, M.D., Here's Lucy, Cannon, Quincy, Days of Our Lives, Dynasty and many others.
