Jack Germond, a journalist who covered Washington, D.C., politics for half a century for the Baltimore Evening Sun and other publications, and a frequent commentator on political television programs, died August 14, 2013, in Charles Town, West Virginia. He was 85. According to news reports, the cause was chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. An old-school newspaper reporter and columnist whose knowledge and perspective made him a favorite guest on many political and public affairs TV programs, Germond made regular appearances on Meet the Press, The McLaughlin Group, Inside Washington and others.
