Frank Morriss, Primetime Emmy WInning Picture Editor

Morriss won two Emmys for the 1974 telefilm The Execution of Private Slovik.

Frank Morriss, a picture editor who won two Primetime Emmys and was nominated for two Oscars, died July 3, 2013, in Northridge, California. He was 85. Morriss, who began his career as a sound and music editor, became a picture editor in the 1960s. He began his career with television series such as worked on such television series as Destry, The Bold Ones, It Takes a Thief and The Name of the Game. In 1971 he edited the acclaimed made-for-television movie Duel, a thriller starring Dennis Weaver as a motorist tormented by a deranged big-rig-trucker and directed by Steven Spielberg. In the 1980s and 1990s he worked on numerous feature films and earned Oscar nominations for Romancing the Stone and Blue Thunder. The latter was directed by John Badham, with whom Morriss collaborated on many other films, including Bird on a Wire, The Hard Way, Point of No Return, Another Stakeout, Drop Zone and Nick of Time.
